Another one down

Another class is almost done! We got a lot of stuff done this weekend and I can now say I have a website. I am also working on a webquest. There is a lot of work that goes into creating a web quest and so much of the information is not at kids level. I am going to have to write some of my own wiki pages in order to make this web quest work.
I never thought I would be doing things like this.

Overload

Well 26 bodies in a tiny room makes me feel like I am swimming upstream ALL DAY LONG! To top it off they are a VERY chatty group! I have moved desks more this week than I did all of last year! I am also feeling very overwhelmed by the webquest and having to think about creating a web site as well this weekend. Can we all say OVERLOAD!

First week of school

Well the year has started. Although I have had these kids before they are a handful and a roomful. I have 27 students in my class. That is a lot of bodies. We will manage but I miss my class of just 17 from last year.

On a mommy note my daughter had a rough first day. At the end of the day her flip flop broke then she forgot her backpack on the bus and couldn't run back because her shoe was broke. We had a lot of tears and stress. She was upset because the teacher said if she didn't get her agenda signed than she would not get a class reward. After she calmed down we went to the bus barn and met the bus and got her backpack and all was well. The next day went much better. On a happy note my son got his MAP scores back and he is advanced in both math and comm. arts and is in the 99th percentile. This is amazing since he is dyslexic and dysgraphic. This is a huge accomplishment for him and us. YEAH Quinn!

New beginning

Well the new school year has started and so far so good. I have never started a year this organized. I am actually waiting for everything to get all messed up. I am excited to start the new but the numbers are high. I am going to have 26 students as of right now. I have already had these kiddo's in 2nd grade so I already have some relationships built which will come in handy. It was fun getting see all my co-workers.

As for my house it is already a mess and I am behind with the laundry. Thank heaven for my mother. She is watching my kids and entertaining them for the week.

New Year

I am getting a new computer today with the tax free weekend. I am excited to have a fast computer. I wish we could take them to school instead of the using the desktops. I think that should be the next step for Lesley is to have a site that is wireless and all the programs should be downloadable.

I can't believe the summer is over. I go back to meetings Monday and we already know we did not make AYP on MAP. So there is already a tense atmosphere for the beginning of the year.

So we will be doing a bunch of analyzing and rethinking how and what we teach.

Work, Work, Work

I have gotten a lot done these last few days. I am trying to get ahead. The web quest is going to take a lot of work I think. I think I have come up with an idea. I want to do a web quest on learning and learning styles. I am hoping that by being this explicit students will be more conscious about how they learn.

I have gone through and looked at everybody's blogs and they look great! I found this fun little gadget with fish that follow my cursor.

I also went through and took everyones survey so you would have some data. You can clear my answers so they don't mess up your data. I loved how varied all the surveys were. I did find on a couple of them that the questions that had multiple rows and a scale at the top would not allow me to have the same choice on different rows. I left a comment on the thread with the question number. Sorry I made extra work for everybody. I had my kids take my survey and I learned that both my kids like to take multiple choice tests to show their learning???? I would never have guessed that.

2nd post

I am feeling overwhelmed by the amount of new pieces of technology that I need to get familiar with. Dreamweaver has a very steep learning curve! I have a question on this though. Once this is created can it be edited by other programs if I don't have Dreamweaver?

My first blog

I am excited to have a blog page for myself. I think this will be a great way to communicate with the class. I am enjoying designing my page.
